Community Guidelines

Make things you would be glad to put your name on. Be generous, be curious, and treat other makers the way you would want to be treated. Most of what follows is just that idea spelled out.

You may not create, publish, or share content that:

• Is illegal or promotes, facilitates, or instructs others in serious illegal activity.
• Attacks or dehumanizes people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, disease, age, sex, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation. No slurs, no hate.
• Harasses, bullies, or threatens anyone, or encourages others to do so. This includes doxxing and coordinated pile-ons.
• Promotes or glorifies violence, terrorism, self-harm, eating disorders, or suicide.
• Is sexually explicit, and any content that sexualizes minors in any way, real or generated, is never allowed and is reported to the authorities. There is zero tolerance here.

• No malware or abuse.No viruses, spyware, keyloggers, phishing, or anything designed to harm a visitor’s device, deceive them into giving up credentials, or steal their data.
• No scams or fraud. No deceptive money-making schemes, fake giveaways, or pretending to be a service you are not.
• No harmful misinformation.Don’t publish content meant to mislead people in ways that cause real-world harm (health, safety, elections).
• No impersonation.Don’t pretend to be another person, creator, or brand in a way meant to confuse or deceive.

Every app runs in an isolated sandbox for everyone’s safety. Don’t try to break out of it, reach other people’s accounts or data, or probe Sprout’s own systems. No crypto mining, no using a visitor’s device or network for hidden work, and no deliberately overloading the service or getting around limits like the daily create cap. Security research is welcome, but email us first (below) rather than testing on real users.

Publish work you made or have the right to share. Don’t upload other people’s code, art, music, or writing without permission, and don’t infringe copyrights or trademarks. Don’t collect or store other people’s personal information through your app. If you believe something here infringes your rights, contact us and we’ll look into it.

Give your app a clear, honest title and thumbnail that match what it actually does. No misleading bait, no spam, and no flooding the feed with near-duplicate posts. Low-effort spam may be removed even if it breaks no other rule.

Remixing is the heart of Sprout, and building on someone else’s app is encouraged. Add something of your own rather than reposting an unchanged copy, and remember that the same guidelines apply to your version.

AI helps you build, but you are responsible for what you publish. Review what it makes, and don’t use AI to generate content that breaks these rules. Don’t submit other people’s private information to AI features.

If you see something that breaks these guidelines, use the report option on the app (or comment) so our moderators can review it. Reports are confidential. Don’t abuse reporting to harass people.

Depending on severity, we may hide or remove an app, remove a comment, limit an account, or suspend a channel. Serious or repeated violations can mean losing access to Sprout, and unlawful content may be reported to the authorities. We aim to be fair and to explain takedowns to the owner, but we can act quickly when people are at risk.

If we make meaningful changes to these guidelines, we’ll update the date at the top. Continuing to use Sprout means you accept the current version. See also our Privacy Policy.
